Swear Jar

We've all heard of the swear jar.  I've decided to set one up with a difference and not only does it benefit me - but if I don't stick to the rules the funds go to Girls' Brigade Christchurch so its a win-win!

The rules:
1. Excercise 1hr per day, 6 days per week - consequence $10 into the jar per day
2. No junk food, chocolate, take-aways, hot-chocolate's etc - consequence $5 into the jar per item
3. Drink 2 litres of water per day - consequence $2 into the jar per day

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.  Every athlete exercises self-control in all things.  So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.  But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27

I would encourage all of you that read this blog that if there's something you could do to be a better you maybe you could set up a challenge for yourself and create your own version of a swear jar - I'd love to hear if you do

Healed!

Its been a while I know.  I have been recovering from tendonitis.  Ran 10km race at Western Springs today.  No uncomfortable start and no pain in the ankle or tight calves when I finished.  AWESOME!  And I ran in in 1hr 10 mins, which I think is my fastest time this year!  So fingers crossed thats it and I'll be fine from now on.  So NO more excuses going for runs - full on training now for the half marathon.

I hope to see your donations to GB Christchurch soon :)

Rotation

Well its been a little while...I have been out of action on the running track!  Have got a tendon/muscle issue which has kept me from running so I had to miss the Musick Point race last weekend.

Physio is NOT going to keep me from the next race in Western Springs tho in 3 weeks, and I have shown signs of improvement already.

You have to have 15 degrees rotation through the ankle to be able to run well - when I first went to the physio I only had 8 degrees in my 'good' ankle and 5 degrees in ma 'bad' ankle.  Today its now 11 and 7 degrees so better but a way to go.

Apparently you can get it when a teenager when the bone grows but the muscle doesn't and so you have short muscles.  But once you fix it it is fixed for life :)

Plus more annoyance....the Auckland Marathon has 750 places for the half marathon...and its already sold out!  6 months in advance of the race, some people are MAD.  Oh well I will do the Waitakere Half Marathon instead a few weeks before on the 9th October.

So slow but steady I will back pounding those footpaths!

Improvement!

So had my 2nd race of the Run Auckland series, at Te Atatu Peninsula, on Sunday.  Improved my time by nearly 5 minutes.  And recovered afterwards much better as well.

On Tuesday had my weekly PT session and started off with a weigh in and measure up.  In the 6 weeks since I have started I have lost 6.5cm off each thigh, 2.5cm off my hips, 3cm off my waist, and 2cm off each arm - not much weight change so losing fat and gaining lots of muscle!

Also I am leading the board (for women) at the gyms tri challenge for April.  11:51 for 2km running, 4:10 for 1km rowing...will do bike next week to see if I win :)

Feeling great this week!

For I know the plans I have for you

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:11-13

Isn't He awesome!  We have prayed for growth in Girls' Brigade - and on Tuesday we had our area meeting, in which we gave our reports on how our 5 companies in West Auckland were doing and what they had been up to for term 1.  We now have a total of 120 girls in West Auckland GB, a 32% increase on last year!  Based on our statistics this takes us back to our 2004 numbers.

The start of our fundraising for Christchurch is about to begin, we are holding a movie night at Pt. Chev company on 20th April, gold coin donation to enter and all proceeds going the GB Christchurch.

Don't foget all of you reading this blog, you can donate online at:

Day 2

This morning started with a 1hr session with Parween my personal trainer at Jetts.  It was quite good, definately noticing the difference since I first started...and yes I actually do have some abs now...wahoo, yes so 15 excerises then 10 mins on treadmill, then the 15 excercises again + stretches

And I have just ended my day by attending our second West Auckland area GB meeting for the year.  Police Vetting forms done, started planning for our parade/area day this year, reflected on camp at Waitawheta, reports read out by all, we've started off well for the year with all companies growing.

I did have titles to sew on 10 sashes for our membership night tomorrow, but being the great procrastinator that I am have decided that there will be time tomorrow.

As for now...I do need sleep :)
